A spray-in bed liner does not void your truck's factory warranty on its own. The manufacturer still covers the truck. On insurance, a liner is an aftermarket addition, so tell your broker and keep your receipt in case you ever need to claim it. Our own lifetime warranty covers the liner against peeling, cracking or delamination.
Your factory warranty
Adding a spray-in liner does not cancel the warranty on your truck. The engine, transmission, electrical system and the rest of the vehicle are covered the same way they were before.
What a manufacturer can do, with any aftermarket product, is decline a specific claim if they can show the aftermarket work caused that specific problem. For a bed liner, the area where that could come up is corrosion on the bed itself. That is one reason prep matters: we sand and prime the factory paint rather than cutting through it, and we photograph every bed before we start so its condition is on record.
If you want to be certain, read the corrosion section of your warranty booklet, or ask the service department at your dealer before you book. Some manufacturers word their bed coverage differently, and it is better to know.
Your auto insurance
A bed liner does not change your premium on its own, but it is an aftermarket addition. Many Ontario policies treat aftermarket equipment differently from factory equipment, and some have limits on what they will pay to replace it after a covered loss.
- Tell your broker or insurer that the truck has a spray-in liner.
- Keep the receipt from us. It shows what was done and what it cost.
- Ask whether your policy covers aftermarket equipment, and up to what amount.
We are not insurance brokers, so your broker is the right person to answer coverage questions for your policy.
It is a two-minute phone call, and it is much easier to have that conversation before something happens than after. If the truck is ever written off or the bed is damaged in a collision, having the liner on file means you are not trying to prove it existed from memory.
Our warranty on the liner
Every liner we spray comes with a lifetime warranty for as long as you own the truck. If it peels, cracks or delaminates, we repair it free. Damage from impact, cutting or chemicals is not covered. The standard finish can lighten in the sun over time; that is cosmetic and not a defect.
Leases and resale
If the truck is leased, check your lease terms before adding anything permanent. A liner cannot be removed at turn-in.
When you sell, a lined bed is generally an easy thing to explain to a buyer: the bed underneath has been protected. Keep the receipt with the truck's paperwork.
The short version
- A liner does not void your factory warranty on its own.
- Tell your insurer, keep your receipt, and ask about aftermarket coverage.
